Where it started
One of the first urban record labels in Scandinavia. After Soundtrade Studios, BB took shape at Finnboda Varv, where we made the music, released it and built a community around it on our own terms.
Late ’90s · Sonox.com
Before streaming, we helped build Sonox.com, a music platform for independent labels. 135 labels joined, 27 in Jamaica alone. It started with CDs: fans picked the songs and the cover, and we pressed their very own disc.
Now we’re taking the next step: independent, with everything that’s possible today.

The community
Breakin’ Bread is a motley crew of professionals in and around music. Book each other, pay each other or collaborate: a mix for cover artwork, a beat for a video, or if you’re simply broke, trade for a share (%).

The new paradigm
Faster
Direct sales follow your payment account’s payout schedule. Music royalties arrive after platforms and distributors report and settle usage.
Direct
Your money goes to the maker, not to a label advance, a distributor, or a pooled payout that skims on the way.
Verifiable
Review the fees and agreed shares. Compare them with the royalties in your distributor’s statements.
Your music, your decision
You set the price, choose what to sell and make sure everyone who should be paid gets paid.
The Founding Circle
Sharing first place
We’re not looking for investors. We’re looking for angels, to give control of music back to everyone who makes it and everyone who lives for it, the professionals and the fans alike. We do it together, by building a transparent platform with fun, practical tools that span the whole industry.
The Founding Circle
Nobody owns Breakin’ Bread. We who stand behind the launch and the first years of development have each given according to our means: money, knowledge or connections. A contribution doesn't buy a share. It gives you a say.
We want to hear your voice!
The Founding Circle in BB gets
